Rules

There is no single national filming permit in the UK; permission comes from whoever owns the land. One London borough, Hillingdon, says anyone filming on council-owned land or property (buildings, streets, parks, highways, open spaces) needs the council's permission, including professional and amateur photographers, videographers, students and clubs. In most cases a licence is also required, fees apply, and public liability insurance and risk assessments or method statements may be requested. Hillingdon allows drone filming only for emergency purposes such as structural surveys. Other councils set their own rules, so check the council or film office for your location.
